"...the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has declared, in response to a federal suit by the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund, that we 'have no absolute right ... to any particular food.' The strong message is that the government is the final arbiter of which foods are safe and unsafe."

Would you, could you go as far as Michael Schmidt, of Canada, who is going on a hunger strike, just to talk to your Prime Minister, President, Governor - someone in charge - about the right to distribute and consume raw milk?

Say you don't appreciate raw milk. What if it came to eating non-GMO foods, or fresh vegetables, or food that was unprocessed? If our government declared Frankenfish, for example, a safe food, would you consider eating it, or would you boycott it? What if it was even illegal for you to keep your own animals on your property so that you could have your own meat/milk from a creature you, yourself raised?

Check out this inspiring article over at Grist about this Canadian rancher that's been trying to raise awareness about the benefits and safety of raw milk for seventeen years.

  2. Gosh - the FDA's track record with drug approval is scary enough and now we have to trust their judgment about the food we eat?
